All:

I just received a call from a customer who we have set up to use the AS/400
mail server for all his company's E-mail needs. Apparently he has discovered
that the AS/400 mail server will quit and return E-mail as undeliverable after
trying to resolve the domain _just twice_. They found this out by having no
luck sending mail to AOL. AOL apparently has many, many DNS servers that are
load balanced to handle the large AOL DNS demand. A piece of mail might request
resolution at one server, be bounced to another busy server, and be returned as
undeliverable before finding a DNS server that can handle the request for
resolution.

He is planning to use native Notes on the 400 for mail. His question: Does
Notes have the same limitation? Is there some kind of workaround? Has anyone
else seen this problem? We have talked to IBM AS/400 folk and they say that
yes, this is a problem and we will fix it _very, very soon_. Lotus is more
difficult to get information out of. Help!

Thanks in advance for the help.
