That sounds like the number of IP address you can assign to a single
NIC. Not the number of connections.

Also, I just checked. The maximum number of sockets (connections)
that can be created under WinNT v4.0 workstation is 32,767. When you
do the AfxSocketInit() (using MSVC & MFC), you can pass a structure
(WSADATA) that will tell you the max number of sockets.

I would expect that the AS/400 can handle at least 32,767 concurrent
connections.

I am sure somebody there can give you the answer.

It's eight on a CISC box, probably eight per Ethernet card. You can
configure more than eight, but only eight can be active at any one
time.
